About the Course
Camp Outcomes:
We want you to know exactly how to build strong skiing skills — the kind that often get skipped or brushed over by people taking shortcuts to "flashy," high-edge-angle skiing. By the end of this camp, you will:
Understand your ski boot setup and how to optimise it for your anatomy.
Know how to execute good repetitions of foundational drills like the stork turn, pivot slips, and edge rolls.
Learn to love the basic parallel turn, or "the ultimate longevity turn."
Get to know your coaches and fellow campers over four days of fun skiing.
Improve your skiing!
Ability Level: Intermediate and Above
This is a foundational camp, so we welcome skiers from an intermediate level up. As long as you can ski in control on all levels of groomed terrain, you're welcome here.
The camp is also open to more advanced skiers who are happy to slow things down a little to refine their turn shape, balance, pivoting, and edging skills. A good example would be a husband and wife of different abilities wanting to join the same week. We split groups by similar ability to keep things moving throughout the day.
Terrain:
You must be a strong parallel skier on steep groomed blue runs and/or gentle groomed black runs. Off-piste and mogul experience isn't necessary, but you must be willing to give them a try.
Physical:
You should be in good shape to make the most of four full days of skiing — and to avoid holding the group up.
Skis to bring:
We believe foundational skills are much easier to learn on a narrower-waisted or all-mountain ski no wider than 90mm underfoot. Ideally, the ski radius should be no larger than 18m, with 11–16m being the sweet spot.
Wide (90mm+), rockered all-mountain skis are harder to learn carving skills on and give you less feedback as a learner, which slows down the learning curve. Sun Peaks has some great carving skis available to rent — just ask and we'll help.
Accomodation and Lift Tickets:
Travel to the resort, lift tickets and accomodation* are not included in the price of the camp. These are left up to the individual to organise. Sun Peaks is part of the Ikon Pass.
* we can arrange for discounted lift tickets and accomodation at the Sun Peaks Grand Hotel once your spot has been paid for. This will be arranged via email after confirmation of payment.
Resort Info and getting here:
Sun Peaks is an ideal location for technical ski improvement. Great snow and grooming, a wide variety of terrain, fast lifts and no crowds. Camps participants aways comment on how ideal Sun Peaks is for improving their skiing.
Please see the Sun Peaks Website for further information.
